Last night, I took a short flight from Istanbul to Kayseri, a conservative city in the middle of the country that's the gateway to Cappodocia. Because it was dark when I arrived, it wasn't until this morning that I got to observe my surreal surroundings. The topography here is actually similar to that of Southern Utah but with one major difference. In the 10th century, people carved homes and churches out of the cliffs and "fairy chimneys" (aka rock columns). They turned an already unique landscape into something absolutely extraordinary.

The great Flintstones Cave Bar. Funny!

Are you in Turkey already? Watching your slideshow, for a minute there, I thought I was in Utah with the Flintstone cave bar...

Do they have a hotel that you can stay? That's such a cool place to visit.
